What's In A Title?

The blog title is my take on my favourite quote from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novel, when Bella realises she is in love with vampire Edward. My version is slightly less impressive than that in the book but never the less true:

"About three things I was absolutely positive, first I was an obsessed crafter, second, there was a part of me - and I didn't know how potent that part might be, that thirsted for beautiful craft materials, dies, stamps, papers, cardstock etc, and third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with scrapbooking and cardmaking"

Wedding Anniversary, The LOTV Way

Our friends are having their wedding anniversary this weekend and I always make them a special card as I was the one who set them up on a date a about seven years back and they are still absolutely devoted to each other and now have a gorgeous baby boy.  The image is a pre-coloured image from Lili of The Valley and I cut it out along with the bigger red heart using some Stampin' Up! thin metal dies and pricked the edges with the co ordinating prick template.  The ribbon is also from Stampin' Up! and I used their punches and stamp for the greeting.  The flowers are Prima with a touch of glitter glue on the edges and I added red to the heart on the book and the little girls hat with a pro-marker and then added Glossy Accents to the little heart to make it shine.  The papers are scraps from my scraps box with some self adhesive plasterers mesh over the top.  The mesh came from DIY store B & Q, which my friend Kathy calls her favourite craft store!  You get a huge roll for under a fiver and I use it on both cards and scrapbook layouts as it adds texture and visual interest and its so easy to use with it already having glue on the back.

Couple of Cards

Yesterday we finally had new cushion floor put down in our redecorated kitchen so it was a busy day, moving everything back into the kitchen from the dining room, popping out for a few essentials from the supermarket then we finally got to sit down for a late tea and some chilling time.  Whilst the carpet fitter was busy in the kitchen I sneaked off to my craft room for an hour and created these two cards.  The top one is for a friend at work and the other for one of my husband's friends.  The girly one is a digital image I bought in a set a few years back, no idea who from and the image on the other is a Lili of the Valley stamp.  Who says it is difficult to do male themed cards? The papers are scraps left over from scrapbooking and both were coloured with Pro markers and the birthday and friends text were stamped with Stampin' Up! stamps.

Going Cheep!

This layout tells the story of a baby Thrush that my workmate Evelyn found outside work last week.  The papers are scraps left over from the Stella and Rose kit I mentioned in my last post.  It is amazing how many layouts I have made from this kit, I must have made about ten by now and i have another one partially finished using up the very tiny left overs.  I don't usually journal straight onto a page but it is something I am trying after being inspired by Shimelle Laine.

Snap

Yet another layout for the baby album. This one is very basic and the papers are from the Stella and Rose or is it just Stella Rose paper collection? I chose these papers because they are very masculine and went with the water theme. This was a Sarah's Cards monthly kit from about two years ago and I have used it on so many layouts so there were only scraps left, including the main sheet which only had the outer frame left. As there were only scraps left there are lots of small pieces tucked behind other small pieces. I downloaded the image of the album cover from the web and printed it off in two sizes, a larger version from which I cut the dollar bill which Is stuck to the photo of James to mimic the Nirvana album cover, and a smaller version which I edited first to remove certain areas of the original which could cause offence. I have added a few pieces of washi tape and some of the kit, just for added depth.
